Pizza Dough

For a nice twist on a simple classic, add dried oregano, basil, and/or parsley to have an herbed pizza crust - ready for all your favorite toppings!

Ingredients


  • 1 ¼ C lukewarm water

  • 1 T sugar

  • 2 ¼ t yeast

  • ¼ C olive oil

  • 3 C all-purpose flour (plus additional for kneading)

  • 2 t salt


Preparation

  1. Combine lukewarm water and sugar in a small bowl and stir until sugar is almost completely dissolved. Sprinkle yeast on top and let rest for about 8 minutes, or until the top is frothy and bubbly.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, salt, and oil and stir until well blended. Pour in yeast mixture and stir until a shaggy dough has formed.

  3. Pour dough out on floured surface and knead for 5 minutes. Form into tight ball.

  4. Pour 1 T of olive oil into medium-sized bowl and place dough ball inside, being sure to coat all sides. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 ½ hours.

  5. Remove from bowl and divide into two equal portions. You can then either freeze for later use, or use right away.

  6. After covering with sauce, cheese, and toppings, bake in a 450°F oven for 12 - 13 minutes.
