I made sausage balls for years, loved the flavor - but was always disappointed with the texture (too dry). I stumbled across a recipe that added cream cheese and it was a game changer! Also, if you don't have Bisquick® handy, check out the "Breads" section of my website for an easy substitute.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage

  • 1 t garlic powder

  • ½ t black pepper

  • 1 (8-oz) block cream cheese, softened

  • 1 t milk

  • ¼ t red pepper flakes

  • 2 C Bisquick®

  • ½ t salt

  • ½ t worcesteshire

  • 1 C shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1 t grated onion

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a cookie sheet.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine uncooked sausage, cream cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, grated onion, worcestershire, milk, red pepper flakes, Bisquick®, and grated cheddar cheese. Form into golf-ball sized shapes and place on cookie sheet.

  3. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
